Today on the Book More Show, we answer the question of what to write when you don't know what to write!
November is NaNoWriMo, a long-running organization that helps fiction writers complete their novels through November by providing support, resources and a framework.
If you have a great idea but struggle to complete it, their step-by-step guidance dramatically increases the likelihood of getting it done.
Likewise, if you have the idea a book is a great tool to help build your business but struggle to decide what to write, then our 5by5 Method is the perfect way for you to create a compelling book that leads people toward working with you.
5by5 Method
If you know what to write - Great. If you don't - Do This!
Use the 5by5 model to outline your content & the Book Blueprint Scorecard to amplify your ideas.
The content model:
5 Questions People Ask
You can discover these by brainstorming your own ideas, asking your support & sales teams, checking out your own FAQ’s and this of competitors, asking customers/partners, or see what comes up in Google autocomplete.
5 Questions They Should Ask
Based on your knowledge, what are the 5 questions people should be asking. If you’re a Financial Advisor they might ask, ‘How early can I draw Social Security?’, but a more valuable question might be ‘What are the consequences of drawing Social Security early?’
5 Action Steps
Once of the Book Blueprint Mindsets is Value Driven Content. We want to give people useful information can compel them to take the next step, rather than leaving them feel like a ‘bait & switch’ with the only value coming if they call you. Give some introductory actions steps people can get started with before realizing the next step is to call.
5 Follow Up Emails
We know it’s the minority of people who will be ready to take action immediately after requesting a copy of your book, so a good follow up sequence will keep in touch with people over the next days or weeks to give them the opportunity to move forward. Adding further value in these emails, along with a call to action, multiplies the opportunities you have to connect with people.
5 Places to Promote Your Book
Now the book is complete, don't forget to use it! You can link to your book on your website and in email signatures, advertise in print magazines and online, use it as an opportunity to engage clients for referrals or reconnect with past leads, and as a reason to collaborate with complimentary, non-competing businesses with similar customers.
This is a great way to concentrate on the content & remember, we’re here to help craft that message and do all the book production steps for you. Just head here to get started, or email us with any questions.
